Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Cortexlumora Private Limited(“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Knotwise mobile app and website (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

• Account information. When you sign in we collect your email address (and name, if provided) via our authentication provider, Clerk. Sign-in is passwordless (email one-time code).
• Photos you submit. Images you capture or upload for identification are sent to our servers and stored to power your scan history.
• Identification results. The species/wood type and related details generated for each scan, saved to your collection.
• Subscription status. Whether you have an active subscription and related purchase metadata, via RevenueCat and the App Store / Google Play. We never receive your full payment details.
• Usage & diagnostics. Basic logs (e.g. request timestamps, errors) used to operate and improve the Service.

How we use your information

• To identify your photos and provide the results and reports.
• To maintain your account, scan history, and subscription access.
• To operate, secure, debug, and improve the Service.
• To respond to your support requests.

Third-party processors

We share data with service providers only as needed to run the Service:

• Clerk — authentication.
• OpenAI — processes your photo to generate the identification. Images are sent for inference and not used to train models.
• Amazon Web Services (S3) — secure photo storage.
• RevenueCat and Apple / Google — subscription management and payments.
• Railway and Neon — application hosting and database.

We do not sell your personal information.

Data retention

We keep your account, photos, and scans until you delete them or your account. When you delete your account we remove your personal data and stored photos, except where we must retain limited records to comply with legal obligations. See Account Deletion.

Your rights

You may access, correct, export, or delete your data. You can delete your account and associated data at any time (see Account Deletion) or by emailing us.

Security

We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, access controls) to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

Children

Knotwise is not directed to children under 13 (or the age required in your region), and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
